Om Shanti Om blessed by numero-logical calculations
The film Om Shanti Om puts faith in number in more ways than one. Besides fielding over 30 top Bollywood stars in a guest appearance for a mother of all item number, the film's release date of November 9 has been determined using numerology.
The release date of the film, produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Farah Khan, actually clashes with Sanjay Bhansali's Saawariya.
A concerned Sanjay Bhansali had reportedly approached Shah Rukh Khan in July, when Shah Rukh was vacationing in London, with a request to delay the release of Om Shanti Om to preclude a fratricidal clash.
Shah Rukh had declined Sanjay's request assuring him that the Diwali week box office would easily absorb two big releases. Besides, Om Shanti Om is a "very Diwali kind of film" he argued.
It now turns out that the real reason Shah Rukh Khan stuck with the 9 November 2007 release date was because the date adds up to 9 which happens to be Farah Khan's lucky number!
The release date for the film's music, 18 September 2007, also adds up to nine!
"I don't really believe in numerology, but it is certainly true that since I am born on January 9 everything that has happened on the 9th has worked out well for me. So I do consider it to be my lucky number," Farah Khan is quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.
"But I certainly don't go out the way to do things on that day. It so happened that our distributors wanted us to release the film in Diwali and November 9 happens to be a Friday so it has again worked out well for me," she adds
If the release date for Om Shanti Om was just a happy coincidence it certainly wasn't the first because Farah's maiden directorial venture, Main Hoon Naa, was also released on April 30, 2004 which totals upto 9.
