Dutt, Khanna and Jeetendra got digitized in OSO
One of the outstanding sequences of the Farah Khan directed, 65-crore, superhit OM SHANTI OM is the 'Dhoom Tana' song. It was an enriching visual delight to see Deepika Padukone romancing yesteryear legends, like (the late) Sunil Dutt, Bollywood's first superstar, Rajesh 'Kaka' Khanna and the 'Jumping Jack', Jeetendra. Since a lot of curiosity has been generated regarding the origin of this song sequence, here's an insight into the making of this creative masterpiece.
The late Sunil Dutt's clip was sourced from AMRAPALI (1966), Rajesh Khanna's portions from SACHCHA JHOOTHA (1970) and Jeetendra's footage was from JAI-VIJAY (1977). The original starlets, Vyjayanthimala (AMRAPALI), Mumtaz (SACHCHA JHOOTHA) and Jaishree T. (JAI-VIJAY), were removed from the footage and currently shot sequences of Deepika were digitally incorporated. And the result of the hard work is there for all to see.
Kudos to the in-house, Red Chillies' VFX team for giving us a taste of Bollywood history!
